Types of Psychotherapy and Counselling Appointments

I provide online counselling and psychotherapy so I am always a ‘therapist near me’, regardless of your location (excluding N.America), or face-to-face counselling and psychotherapy at the therapy room in Sale, south Manchester (near M33 5PA and people come routinely from Sale, Trafford, Salford, Altrincham, Hale, Chorlton, Didsbury and Greater Manchester). Each appointment lasts one hour. Everyone is different and some people have six sessions (the minimum commitment) to work on something very focused, whilst others continue to attend appointments over a period of several months. I always build routine reviews to help determine progress as the work continues over time.

Online or face-to-face appointments

Online appointments

I provide online psychotherapy and counselling using a secure software program run by Psychology Today and can use other methods if you prefer (e.g. WhatsApp video, Facetime, Google Meets). The software is free and easy to use, and provides access to psychotherapy and counselling wherever you are.

Face-to-face appointments

I provide psychotherapy and counselling from a dedicated therapy room at my home in Sale, south Manchester near M33 5PP). This provides assured privacy in this comfortable, peaceful surrounding, with easy access, free parking and nearby public transport (Sale metro station less than 15-minute walk and main bus-route less than 10 minute walk).

Arranging and paying for appointments

All psychotherapists and counsellors work a little differently and a copy of the full Terms, sometimes called the Therapeutic Contract will be sent out to you before the first appointment.

Arranging an appointment

Everyone needs to have a free, no-obligation telephone call with me to decide if I am the best therapist for them at this current time. Next, we would arrange a mutually convenient time for the full appointment. This will become the same regular day and time every week to build in structure and obtain the maximum impact from the psychotherapy and counselling.

Payment

  • Appointments are confirmed only once a payment has been received (unless a cash/invoice arrangement has been agreed) and this needs to be sent at least 5 days in advance. In most cases, people pay for the next appointment immediately after the end of the first.
  • Payments are made through Bank Transfer (unless cash/invoice has been agreed)
  • The standard appointment fee is £75.00. Some reduced-cost appointments are possible but these are on a case-by-case-basis, usually for unemployed people and students – please contact me for information.

Cancellations

Please note that there is a strict, 48-hour notice cancellation policy. In other words, a full charge will apply if you miss an appointment and have not given at least 48 hours notice for absence. I am unable to routinely send appointment reminders or receipts for payment. Therefore, I encourage people to set an appointment reminder in their calendar!
